License FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions regarding our licenses.

Commercial licenses

How many Commercial licenses do I need?

You need one license per developer using EPPlus. Licenses are granted per person and cannot be shared. As a rule of thumb – anyone that writes or needs to debug code that calls EPPlus directly should be covered by a commercial license.

If you offer EPPlus as a service internally (for example by exposing its functionality via an API), your company must subscribe for a subscription covering the number of internal users (developers) of that service since these are also your users.

With the Commercial license, can I distribute EPPlus with software that I sell?

Yes, you can - as long as you don't offer EPPlus’ functionality to your customers as a service. Please see sections 2 and 3.4 of our EULA.

I'm a Contractor, can I use my license for my customers project?

EPPlus licenses are issued to the company that directs the developers using EPPlus. This means: If your customer directs your work, your customer must buy the license. If you however are self-directed and introduce EPPlus into a software that will be used by your customer, you must buy the license.

Does the Commercial license include support?

Yes, anyone who purchase a Commercial license is entitled to support via our website.

For our subscription based licenses support is always included as long as your subscription is active. For our perpetual licenses you have access to our support during the support/upgrade period. After this period you need to renew the license for continued support access.

Do I need to purchase licenses for my build server, test environments, etc?

No, you only need one license per developer.

Can I read your EULA for the commercial licenses?

Our End User License Agreement is available here. It is only available in english

Do I still need the licenses when my project is done?

Subscriptions: When your project is complete, you only need licenses for the developers who maintain the code. If your project has been deprecated and is no longer being maintained; you can cancel your subscription.

Perpetual: you can continue to use the versions of our software that was released during the support/upgrade period forever.

My usage of EPPlus is not covered by the current Commercial licenses.
